Healthy San Diego was developed over several years by a coalition of consumers, stakeholders and County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) staff. Healthy San Diego’s goal is to establish and maintain a Medi-Cal Managed Care system that integrates public health functions and services of a local health department with private sector full service health plans to allow for patient choice, and local involvement of providers, consumers, and advocates.
The Committee shall have the following duties and responsibilities:
- To meet quarterly or more frequently with representatives from community-based organizations, professional organizations and consumer advocates with demonstrated experience, service and/or advocacy in Medi-Cal covered health services.
- To review and make recommendations on issues, policies and programs affecting Medi-Cal beneficiaries in San Diego County.
- To work to develop communication and teamwork between managed care health plans, Medi-Cal beneficiaries, and community stakeholders regarding Medi-Cal covered services.
- To sponsor presentations regarding pertinent legislation, program information, and key healthcare issues impacting the community and beneficiaries while promoting the Live Well, San Diego! initiative.
