Bodies that are donated to the UCSD Body Donation Program are valuable and honored gifts that help in the education of many in the health care field such as physicians, dentists, nurses, and physical therapists. They can also be invaluable to research physicians in the development of new surgical procedures.
Our office does not directly participate in the Body Donation Program at UCSD, but we work with them when deaths that fall under our jurisdiction involve a person who has donated his or her body to science. This way we can attempt to ensure that no procedures here interfere with the needs of the Body Donation Program.
