| Summary: The decedent was a single 21-year-old White male who was active duty U.S. Navy Petty Officer onboard the USSS HIGGINS DDG-76. During the afternoon of 01/05/08 he was the driver and sole occupant of his motorcycle on SR-78 in the Santa Ysabel area. For an unknown reason he lost control of the motorcycle and struck a tree. CHP Officers and paramedics responded to the scene and encountered the decedent alert and orientated. During the paramedic assessment of his injuries the decedent went into sudden cardiopulmonary arrest. Resuscitation was initiated and Mercy Air Ambulance transported him to Palomar Medical Center. Despite an aggressive resuscitation effort, death was pronounced shortly after admission to the hospital. |
