San Diego is one of the largest counties in the state. It also has an impressive number of diverse communities. To address the unique needs of the neighborhoods in the unincorporated areas of the county, the Parks and Recreation Department operates three community centers and two teen centers. These facilities meet the recreational, educational, and social needs of the local residents by offering services for all age groups. Among these services are:
- Child care and social services
- Craft, hobby, and enrichment classes
- Senior citizen programs, trips, and tours
- Community-wide special events
- Facilities for private gatherings, cultural, and civic events
- Fitness, dance, sports, and outdoor recreation activities
- Community service projects
- Field trips
- Adult outdoor adventure trips
The three community centers are conveniently located in Fallbrook, Spring Valley, and Lakeside. The two teen centers are located in Spring Valley and Lakeside. Each facility is tailored for the local residents, so the programs and activities vary from center to center.
Note: Rental fees were adjusted on January 1, 2008. To view the new fees, please go to this page(a PDF document).
In early 2005 the department conducted a community-wide recreation survey for Fallbrook, Spring Valley, and Lakeside. The results of this survey are helping to shape our recreation programs over the next five years. To learn more about the survey and view the results, go to this page.
