The Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), serving as the Housing Authority of the County of San Diego, operates a number of housing programs for low-income families.
The Section 8 Rental Assistance Programs are programs where qualified families have a portion of their rent paid to the landlord by the Housing Authority. Our Waiting List Application is available online. Use this link to apply for assistance or update your application. If you received our waiting list update letter, use the online application to update your information.

The Public Housing program is similar to the Section 8 Rental Assistance programs, but the rental units are owned and managed by the Housing Authority and its representatives.
The East County Shared Housing Program is funded (but not administered) by the department. These funds allow Crisis House to match eligible persons with residents who have space in their home to share.
