    Now you can check to see if you are registered to vote for the upcoming election(s). You must be registered to vote at least 15 days prior to each election. Voting material mailings begin 29 days before the election. To ensure your voting materials are delivered timely and accurately, verify that you are registered correctly! To check your voter registration status for the upcoming election follow the link below, if you have recently submitted a voter registration form to our office or the SOS it can take several days process your registration so please check your status again at a later date to confirm you are registered if we can't find your registration information.

Registration Information


You Can Register to Vote in California, if you are:
A U.S. Citizen
A California Resident
At least 18 years of age on or before the next election
Not in prison or on parole for a felony conviction
Not declared mentally incompetent by court action

Registration is Easy! Here are 3 ways you can register to vote:

Option 1 - Download the Registration Form from this website, fill out and return to the ROV Main Office.

Option 2 - Postcard Registration. Postcards are available for pickup at the following locations:
ROV Main Office
•City Clerks' Offices
•Department of Motor Vehicles
•U.S. Postal Services
•Public Libraries

Option 3 - Have a postcard mailed directly to you. Call the ROV Main Office at (858) 565-5800, request a  registration postcard. Once received, fill out and return back to the ROV.

Information on your voter registration affidavit will be used by elections officials to send you official information on the voting process, such as the location of your polling place and the issues and candidates that will appear on the ballot. Commercial use of voter registration information is prohibited by law and is a misdemeanor. Voter information may be provided to a candidate for office, a ballot measure committee, or other person for election, scholarly, journalistic, political, or governmental purposes, as determined by the Secretary of State. Driver's license and social security numbers, or your signature as shown on your voter registration card, cannot be released for these purposes. If you have any questions about the use of voter information or wish to report suspected misuse of such information, please call the Secretary of State's Voter Protection and Assistance Hotline.

Certain voters facing life-threatening situations may qualify for confidential voter status. For more information, please contact the Secretary of State's Safe At Home program or visit the Secretary of State's Web site at www.ss.ca.gov.
